35 weeks- football and edema

Last week I hit 35 weeks of pregnancy. So to celebrate, I went to a football game! I am a Miami Dolphins fan (this year is our year!!) and my husband is an Atlanta Falcons fan, so when we heard that they were playing a preseason game against each other in our backyard, we HAD to go! We were pretty high up in the stands but luckily the stadium had an escalator so no stair climbing for this lady!! I did pretty well until the long trek back to the car after the game. I had to ask the group to slow down significantly because I couldn't keep up! But all in all it was an amazing time!

Also in this, week my legs have started to feel the burn. My ankles, which used to be so delicate and dainty, are gone. My legs below the knee are getting a bit swollen. And shin splints have started to set in. So standing or walking for anything more than about 15 minutes is very uncomfortable. After looking into it a bit and talking to my doula, I discovered that I have edema in my legs (more specially "pitted edema"). If I press a finger into the skin on my lower legs or my cankles it leaves a depression in the skin for a few minutes. My legs are just holding in so much fluid, but it's my body preparing for the baby. If I said it once, I'll say it a hundred times: "pregnancy sucks!"

33/34 weeks- large and in charge!

Things are trucking right along! Each week, well each day in fact, seems to go by slower and slower. Meanwhile, I'm getting bigger and more uncomfortable. Here's something that people don't tell you- you have to bust out the panty-liners around this time. My doctor feels that the baby is already head down due to where her heartbeat was. Which means that she is constantly pushing down and I feel pressure "down under" often. After a couple of days of finding wetness in my underwear every time I went to the bathroom, I realized that my little one is making my bladder leak slightly. Thus, panty-liners are back into my life... My doula has also cautioned me to go to the bathroom the minute I feel the urge to go- that holding it, even for a short amount of time, isn't good for me or for the baby.

31 weeks- Putting together the nursery!

The minute my husband and I found out we were expecting we knew which room would be designated for the nursery. It's the closest room to our master bedroom and it didn't have any furniture in it yet- so an easy choice! The room was plain and boring white walls, with a few painting "liberties" that the previous kids who occupied it must have done. Here are some pics:

Fortunately, my fantastic brother and his girlfriend decided that their gift to us was helping to do the nursery! So they purchased a chair rail that would run the entire length of the room as well as a pretty wainscoting. We painted the wall a medium pink color (we only needed to do half the wall as the wainscoting was going to be on the bottom half):

Here is what the room looked like with the chair rail and wainscoting installed:

The final step was caulking everything, sanding it smooth, painting the chair rail white and the wainscoting grey! I think it came out so beautiful!! Here is a pic of the final product:

Of course I had to get a weekly picture and I wanted to include my brother (his girlfriend Sara didn't want her photo taken) and my little niece Juliette!

Next is to fill the room with furniture and get some things on the wall!!
